Alexis Gabbey was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She completed her B.Sc. in Chemistry at the University of Alberta in 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Rylan Lundgren, where she worked on enantioselective Pd-catalyzed decarboxylative cross-couplings. She subsequently joined the PhD program at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada, where she is conducting research under the supervision of Prof. Sophie Rousseaux. Her PhD work focuses on Ni-catalyzed reductive couplings of NHP esters, as well as the synthesis and functionalization of strained rings. Alex is currently a visiting PhD candidate in the Noël group, where she is working on the photochemical synthesis of N–substituted lactams in flow.
